Accidental Instagram Content Creator

Hello friends, it’s been a while. Thanks for hanging in there. We have lots of projects coming up at home and I wanted to touch base with you.

This past year we stepped back from major projects and focused on a lot of small things that needed attention. I have a few posts lined up to show what we’ve been working on but wanted to tell you about a funny thing that happened on the way to becoming a healthier version of myself.

For a couple of years every six months or so I would use a private facebook account that I renamed with the month I was working on myself (January, June…) Tune Up. I would post exercise ideas mainly for myself but had a few friends follow along.

I discovered that there was a lot on Instagram I liked and could use so I moved there. Tune up wasn’t an available name so I settled on Choosing to Reset. I was pretty new to Instagram and didn’t understand the posting options very well. Frankly I still don’t but I’m better now than when I started.

I set some goals for myself and one was to walk every day.

I asked some friends to follow me so I would have accountability and started posting. I thought a reel went out to the whole world, a post went to followers, and didn’t even know what a story was. So there I was happily posting away to my 18 friends. Gradually I had added followers to about a hundred folks. December 21st I posted about my progress. I was pretty happy with the progress I was making and shared it.

The next morning I woke up to 30 new followers. I thought oh my goodness they accidentally followed me! On my morning walk I tried to explain that I was pretty boring, there weren’t going to be bells and whistles, and I wouldn’t be offended if they unfollowed me. That post went crazy. It has snowballed to the point that 45,000 people follow along. I truly am an accidental content creator.

I have virtually met some of the nicest and most inspiring people. I’ve learned a lot, tried new things, and become a little more confident in my technology skills, but I’m still doing what I set out to as my goals- I just have a few more friends checking in on me.

I’m trying to figure out ways bring both accounts together, because at heart I’m still a country girl who loves repurposing, creating, and coming up with projects that Mr. Math can figure out how to do, but I’m also going to continue on my journey to be a healthier version of myself.

I would welcome suggestions and input friends in how to share. I’m going to be posting this blog on both accounts so you all have the opportunity to see both versions of me as I continue to live my very ordinary life out loud for the world to see. Thanks to my “Choosers” for putting up with my daily barrage. I appreciate you all so much.

Thanks for following along on this journey.

Best wishes,

Karen
